How copper is mined?

Ore is extracted with the use of boring machinery by drilling holes into the rock. Explosives are then inserted to blast open the rock. The copper can then be processed and refined, removing its impurities, before it is manufactured into usable products.

Copper is therefore used in medical equipment to reduce the transmission of infections, in coatings and on surfaces. It is also used in copper-infused bandages and dressings to enhance healing and prevent bacterial growth.
