Each of us has repeatedly witnessed the inappropriate behavior of a child on the street, in a shop or at a bus stop. Little children often make hysterics about their desires, teenagers – make noise, spoil the property, litter, or even smoke, swear. All this is the cost of both home and school education.
These children simply do not know that there are rules of conduct in public places – and they must adhere to them.
Even if the children know about them – and in kindergarten and at school they say this necessarily, they often do not understand simple things:
- cultural skills are the basis of life in society;
- a well-educated person is easier to establish relationships with other people;
in the end, for violating the rules of conduct in public places can punish their parents, and for teenagers from the age of 14 comes personal responsibility.
Teaching the basics of correct behavior in society should begin the first year of life – and this is one of the key tasks of parents, similar in importance to intellectual, spiritual and physical development. Skills, how to behave next to strangers, in public places like a shop, theater, museum, transport and even a playground, you need to teach your baby the same way as brushing your teeth or tying shoelaces. List of rules of behavior of children outside the home
There are official rules for children’s behavior – their list can be found in children’s and educational institutions. The requirements for the behavior of adolescents, of course, are much more complicated than for babies, but the basic, common for all, are listed:
What parents should teach their child
There are also a number of informal requirements, with which parents should familiarize their child literally in the first exit to any public place. Read more: Throwing the Perfect Movie Party for Kids
For example, when visiting a zoo, the baby should be told that it is impossible to climb to the animal cells, throw anything in them, tease and make noise so as not to frighten or disturb other people.
Also, the child should be taught how to behave in the theater, in the cinema and explain why the rules of behavior in these public places are different. Children should understand why a well-bred person should not talk loudly in these institutions, rustle candy wrappers, get up during a performance or a film. The children are interested in why you can not eat and drink during the performance at the theater, and in the cinema, you can buy popcorn and take a drink. In museums and exhibitions, you can not touch the exhibits, you must listen to the guide and do not interfere with other visitors.
Rules of conduct in public transport include several aspects. First, it is an elementary politeness. The child must be taught that it is customary to let forward women and elderly people at the entrance, give way to them, do not push the passenger’s elbows. Secondly, an educated person must pay for travel. The third requirement is not to litter in the cabin, do not contaminate it with inscriptions. In transport, do not laugh loudly, talk, turn on music, in any way distract the driver from the road.
This is one of the important stages in the development of a culture of behavior and it is necessary to start learning from the first words of the baby. It is best not to do this by teaching, that if you want to ask something, then you have to say the word “please”, and show it daily on your example. Words of politeness
Teaching civility in kids can be turned into an interesting game. I forgot to say “please” – pay a fine. Not with money, of course, but with some kind of action (10 sit-ups, remove toys, help with something) or restriction (turn off cartoons). This applies to adult family members. With them, fines are more serious – to buy ice cream, to do something at the request of the child. Make a list of polite words and hang it in a prominent place. Over time, the habit of using them will be brought to automatism.
The laws of courtesy include telephone and gift etiquette: the child must first introduce himself if he calls someone, to thank for the gift he received.
Also, the rules of behavior in society require compliance with such norms:
- knocking before opening doors;
- Do not whisper in front of other people, do not speak a language they do not understand;
Behavior at the table
This is one of the most difficult in the training section of the public policy. Many adults do not know how to behave at the table. And their children imitate them in everything because they do not see another example every day. Since childhood, teach the child basic rules and prohibitions.
Some educational conversations and explanations in order to teach children and adolescents to the rules of behavior among people will not be enough. Seeing that the father spits on the street under his feet, or my mother loudly and ugly curses in the store – the child himself will behave the same way, copying the behavior of adults.
A great influence on children, especially teenagers, is provided by peers, a company in which they spend their free time. If you think that a child has fallen into the wrong company, you can not get away with abuse. The most effective way how to turn off adolescents from unwanted friends is to show them on the side how ugly and unpresentable they look in society, to explain why they find condemnation from other people, and what impact this will have on their subsequent lives.
Since childhood, the child needs to explain what is good, what is bad. To do this, play with him in role-playing games, work out various scenes, showing by examples how unpleasant it is to be near a rude person. Also, explain this by reviewing cartoons and movies. And remember – learning is always easier than retraining.
